AFL On Demand – a free content streaming service

AFL On Demand provides football fans with more than only 24/7 football content, it is designed to provide them with an emotional connection they’re seeking from the game they love. The launch of AFL On Demand includes access to a new content series, Sound The Alarm, that showcases exclusive video and audio footage from the coaches’ box during the 2019 AFL Grand Final between the GWS Giants and Richmond.

The streaming service offers unlimited access to the AFL video content library which includes a 9-part mini series, Last Time I Cried presented by Hamish McLachlan & Lloydy’s Lists with Matthew Lloyd.

The platform will also host Yokayi Footy, a panel show featuring Bianca Hunt, Tony Armstrong and Darryl White, featuring football and exciting stories told by the modern voices of Indigenous Australia’s fresh talent.

Sarah Wyse, General Manager of Digital and Media said they have combined the best of entertainment and sports to deliver fan-centric and exceptional stories that celebrate the game’s heroes, culture, history and community.

Their video content goes well beyond the game day and explores the deep connection between the sport and life. There’s so much more to the game than what one can see on the football field, there are tales of adversity, an abundance of rich characters and stories of triumph, and celebrations to share with the fans, says Wyse.

Through the AFL’s digital platforms, on average, four-million Australians each month are reached. Working with their tech partner, Telstra, AFL On Demand has been designed and created with the fans in mind to give them a platform to find beautiful stories and much more. This is just the beginning, says Wyse and adds the content library will continue to grow over time with historical and club-centric content.

Rebecca Haagsma, Telstra Media Product and Technology Executive says that AFL On Demand shows the deep collaboration between the AFL and the telco to deliver innovative digital experiences for football fans. Their digital and technology partnership with the AFL is long-standing and the products they deliver together are cherished by millions of Australians.

The football streaming platform AFL On Demand has been created by the AFL and Telstra’s product team and showcases Telstra’s expertise in the technology space and the sports platform.
