In an attempt to step up its overseas acquisitions, IT services provider HCL Technologies has announced its agreement to acquire DWS in Australia. The acquisition has been valued at AU$158 million and the deal is expected to be closed by December 2020.
The DWS acquisition will help HCL meet the increasing demand of digital solutions and technologies and enhance the tech company’s client portfolio in Australia and New Zealand, says HCL Corporate Vice President, APAC, India and Middle East, Swapan Johri.

DWS in Australia has a talented staff of more than 700 spread across its offices in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. Senior Research Director at Consultancy Gartner, DD Mishra explains that Australia is a crucial market for most providers in the APAC region. The acquisition is expected to enhance the digital transformation capabilities of HCL in the region and additionally aid in the localisation efforts of HCL in multiple Australian cities.
